Tinsel

Tinsel is the metallic ribbing and body wrap that gives flies their reflectivity and bug-segment look. Used on traditional Catskill streamers, classic Atlantic salmon flies, and modern attractor patterns alike, tinsel is one of the oldest tying materials still in use.

Our tinsel selection covers the range: holographic tinsel, Mirage opal and pearl tinsel, oval French tinsel, Uni Mylar, and various flat and embossed tinsels in gold, silver, and color. The right tinsel ribbing on a Hare's Ear or Pheasant Tail nymph protects the body materials and adds the segmentation that suggests an insect.
