Fly Tying Beads

Beads add weight to nymphs and streamers, sink flies into the strike zone, and create the distinctive heads of bead-head patterns. The right bead is both functional ballast and a strike trigger — a flashy gold bead at the head of a Hare's Ear or Pheasant Tail can be the difference between a refusal and an eat.

Our bead selection covers brass beads in classic colors, tungsten beads (the heaviest for fast sinking), cone heads for streamers, slotted tungsten beads for jig hooks, and faceted beads for extra flash. For Euro-nymph patterns specifically, the slotted tungsten bead is the modern standard.
