Dubbing

Dubbing is the fine fur or synthetic blend wound on tying thread to form fly bodies. The right dubbing gives a pattern the texture, color, and translucency that triggers a strike — a Hare's Ear nymph relies on coarse fur picked out to suggest legs and gills, while a fine dry fly dub keeps bodies tight and floating.

Our dubbing selection runs the full natural-to-synthetic range: Hare's Ear blends, dry fly dubbing in fine and standard textures, scud and nymph dubbings, UV and Ice Dubs, Angora goat, pine squirrel, hare's mask, and specialty caddis and dry-fly blends. For dries, nymphs, soft hackles, and streamers, the right dubbing is here.
