Summer is officially here, but that doesn't mean we can't look forward to Fall and our 5th Annual TROUTOBERFEST event!

This two day event will be held over Columbus Day Weekend (October 8th - 9th) and we will be announcing details over the next several weeks. Once again we plan on having presentations, fly tyers, classes, and more for anglers of all experiences and abilities. There should be something for the seasoned fly fisher as well as the novice who has never picked up a rod!

Women Fly Fishing Clinic

FLY TYING CLASS WITH HENRY RAMSAY- Henry will be leading our fly tying class on Saturday night. This will be a laid back class (that means beers if you're old enough!) geared towards tyers with some basic fly tying skills are needed! He will share some tips and tricks for some of his more popular patterns and answer any questions you may have. Class size is limited so sign up early. We're really looking forward to this one!SATURDAY, OCTOBER 8th 3:30pm. Cost: $30, all materials included.

GEORGE DANIEL PRESENTATIONS- George will be giving two separate presentations on Saturday, October 8th. One presentation will discuss the varied streamer techniques that George talks about in his new book, and the other will cover nymphing skills he has honed over his years on the water. Both presentations are free to attend, but space will be limited. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 8th: Nymphing Presentation - 10:00 am, Streamer Presentation - 2:30 pm

NYMPHING CLASS with GEORGE DANIEL -Learn a variety of nymphing techniques and tricks from the master himself. This class will be held on Sunday, October 9th and will include both classroom time and time on the water. Class will last 4 hours, and be LIMITED TO ONLY 4 PEOPLE so be sure to sign up ASAP. SUNDAY OCTOBER 9th 8:00AM - NOON Cost: $150.00 -CLASS FULL

STREAMER CLASS with GEORGE DANIEL -Want to step your streamer game? Join us Sunday, October 9th for George's classroom and on the water Streamer Class. Most people don't realize there is a lot more to streamer fishing than just Chuck It and Strip It...and George can teach you how to target big fish more effectively. Class will last 4 hours, and be LIMITED TO ONLY 4 PEOPLE so be sure to sign up ASAP. SUNDAY OCTOBER 9th 1:00PM - 5:00PM Cost: $150.00 - We had to turn people away for this class last year, so sign up early!

Orvis 101

FREE ORVIS FLY FISHING 101 CLASS - Great for the beginner or people looking to get into the sport. These classes have been very popular for us the past few years, and are the perfect opportunity to introduce somebody to fly fishing. Our TROUTOBERFEST class will be held on Saturday, October 8th and Sunday, October 9th at 9:30 am. More details can be found here

Women Fly Fishing Clinic

FREE WOMEN'S FLY FISHING 101 CLASS - some women find it easier and more enjoyable to learn fly fishing from other women, so this clinic on Saturday, October 8th at 1:00pm , is going to be for women only! Jackie Jordan from Orvis (you've probably seen her in their catalogs!) will be leading our all female crew that will help introduce you to the sport. This class is great for women who have been curious about fly fishing but never tried it, as well as those of you who have some basic experience and want to expand your knowledge.


WOMEN'S FLY FISHING 201 WORKSHOP - the next step in our series of classes, this women's only workshop will take place largely on the water and focus on using the skills you have learned so far. It will begin with some casting instruction, then move to the water where you will cover topics like wading, reading the water, fly selection...and you will even do some fishing! Class size will be limited, SUNDAY at NOON

New Orvis Product

NEW ORVIS PRODUCTS FOR 2017- Here's your chance to get a sneak peek at some of the new products Orvis is coming out with for 2017! Orvis representative Tom Zemianek will be bringing a number of new products with him from Vermont, including some new fly rod and reel models. This is your chance to try test casting a variety of the current Orvis rods and to see what else you can expect from them over the coming months.

Women's Fly Tying

BEGINNING FLY TYING CLASS- Ever wanted to learn how to tie your own flies? Here's your chance! We will be offering a beginner's fly tying class on Sunday, October 9th. It will cover some of the basic techniques you need to get started in fly tying, and give you a chance to ask questions and get advice from experienced tyers. SUNDAY OCT 9th, 10:00am

FEATURED TYER: HENRY RAMSAY -Henry is making the trip out from PA and will be tying in the shop on Saturday afternoon! You may be familiar with his book "Matching Major Eastern Hatches" and this is a great chance to see some of those patterns in the vise! Henry will also be giving a presentation about Sulphurs, one of our most important hatches in the area. SATURDAY 10:00 am - 11:30 am

William Anderson

FEATURED TYER: WILLIAM ANDERSON - William Anderson will be joining us all the way from Virginia to tie soft hackles, spiders, and flymphs. William has a passion for these traditional flies as well as the history and tying techniques that go with them. You can check our William's website for examples of his flies. SATURDAY 10:00am - 11:30 am

FEATURED TYER: GEORGE DANIEL - Not only will George be giving presentations and teaching classes, he will also be spending a little time behind the vise. George isn't afraid to share some of his "secret" go to nymphs that have served him so well over the years, and he can also tie up a pretty mean streamer so be sure to stop by and take advantage of his experience and knowledge! SATURDAY Noon - 1:30pm

FEATURED TYER: JOSH MILLER - Josh Miller is from Ross Township, a small town in Pittsburgh, PA, and is a current member of Fly Fishing Team USA. The Orvis Company has since picked up Josh as a “Signature Fly Tyer." Josh currently works at International Angler. He also volunteers with Team USA Youth as an instructor and with Wounded Warriors. SATURDAY Noon - 1:30pm

Catskill John

FEATURED TYER: "CATSKILL" JOHN - If you fish in the area, then chances are pretty good that you already know Catskill John. Whether you've run into him down at the museum, participating in the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild, or out fishing the river he is the kind of guy you don't forget (and I mean that in a good way!). Well, we're lucky enough to have Catskill John joining us to tie Classic Salmon Flies so be sure to stop by and see some of his work! SATURDAY 2:00pm - 3:30pm

FEATURED TYER: "KURT HUNER - Kurt Huhner specializes in tying trout flies and in 2008 he won the annual East Jersey TU Frank Hall Fly Tying award. Kurt has tied at various shows including the Somerset Fly Fishing Show, Catskill Fly Tyers Guild Rendezvous, Theodore Gordon Flyfishers Catskill Classic, Ramsey Outdoor's Cabin Fever Days. He taught fly tying for 2 years at Orvis NYC and teaches occasionally for the NYC Trout Meetup group. Kurt also formed the fly fishing club NYC Trout Bums. SATURDAY 2:00pm - 3:30pm
