2012 Catskill Fly Fishing Academy with
Hardy-Greys
Two Day Fly Fishing Academy

It was so successful, and so much fun, last year that the Beaverkill Angler is proud to announce our second Catskill Fly Fishing Academy with Hardy-Greys being held on the Willowemoc on
Saturday June 23rd and Sunday June 24th

Once again we are teaming up with Hardy-Greys to hold a full two day fly fishing school with one of the sport's most storied brands.  Whether new to fly fishing or looking to polish your skills, join us in June for an in-depth experience in the birthplace of American Fly Fishing.

Hardy's own John Shaner, a dedicated Catskill fly fisherman with decades of educational experience, will be back as our Head Instructor for the course.  John and our other experienced instructors will walk you through classroom sessions, as well as spend time on the water helping you apply what you have learned.

The cost for the class is $450 and includes lunch on both days, a Saturday night cookout hosted by the Beaverkill Angler staff, two days of instruction, all necessary equipment, plus handouts and instructional material.
This is a great opportunity to socialize and make new friends who share your interest in the sport.  In addition to the camaraderie and good times, the Catskills provide a picture perfect "classroom" where you will learn about:

 Fly Casting                          Equipment
                    Knots                                    Flies
           Entomology                  Reading the Water
  Proper Presentation            and much more!

Remember, class size is limited to guarantee the best experience for all participants so be sure to reserve your spot early

Here's what some of our 2011 participants had to say:

"Worth every penny! The Beaverkill Angler staff put together a great weekend of instruction and relaxation/fishing. I walked away with not only the confidence and skill to go out and fly fish on my own but also with new friends. The atmosphere and location are pristine, and the instructors are awesome. If you're looking to get into fly fishing or improve on your current skills you should look no further." - Rod D.

"I would say that the proof was in the pudding - after a full day of classes and casting I was put on the spot in front of the whole class to try for 2-3 fish that our instructor had picked out...I caught at least two of them - one being a giant brownie!" -Keith M.

Once again we will be holding our 2012 Catskill Fly Fishing Academy at Creekside Cabins, along the banks of Willowemoc Creek near Roscoe, New York.  The Castaway Lodge will serve as our home base, and will provide us a spacious inside area for our classroom portions.

We also have three rooms available to rent in the Castaway Lodge for the weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights).  They are separate rooms within the lodge, with a shared bathroom and living space.  Cost for a room is $70/night with a minimum stay of any two nights, the third night is optional.  Earliest check in is Friday afternoon, and latest check out is Monday morning.

Visit Creekside Cabins' website to check for availability, and take advantage of the added convenience of staying at the site of the school, as well as the opportunity to apply what you learned during the day by fishing Willowemoc Creek in the evening.  This is one of our premier times for fishing in the Catskills, so you may want to make an extended weekend of it and book an extra day or two.
